Why not give someone the ultimate gift this year with a Feather Perfect Falconry Community Interest Company………
‘Walk with a Hawk’
view these magnificient birds close up and personal with an 90 minute walk through the stunning shropshire countryside, while you watch with awe as our team of Harris Hawks swoop and glide back to your fist, as we enjoy the magnificient scenery. Your experience will be totally personal for you, spectators can attend if required. We have an age limit of 10 and children under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
On arrival at the Flying ground we run through a quick safety talk and you are shown how to call and hold the birds. We then look at all the equipment the bird wears and how it is changed for flying. You are given a falconry glove to use for the duration of the walk. The birds are then released and the walk begins.
The walks are over private land and you must have a reasonable degree of fitness as the woods and fields do not have footpaths (If this is not possible please contact us and we will arrange a more suitable venue to suit your personal needs)
Tops and Jackets: we do ask that you wear a long sleeve top that covers your lower arms. In the winter months layers work best, and although we try not to fly in the rain we suggest a water proof jacket, this is British weather after all. Neutral colours work better
Trousers: Although the margins are mowed a number of times a year we do not recommend shorts just in case of stinging nettles (never a dock leaf when you need one!). Jeans are perfect but any comfortable walking trouser will do. Be aware if it has rained in the days leading up to your walk then it may be possible that the grass will be wet and your trousers will get damp so you may want to pack a spare pair.
Footwear: We are walking around fields so your best dancing shoes are not recommended. We ask that you wear something with a good grip, Wellington or walking boots are perfect. Trainers are fine if it has not rained. We do have a number of spare Wellingtons if you have nothing suitable for walking out of doors. We then just ask for you to bring thick socks!
Costs are
Adult £35.00
Child 10-16 £25.00
Spectator £20.00

Have you ever thought about an environmentally friendly pest control system.

Flying falcons and hawks at avian species such as pigeons, gulls, starlings etc. These birds often cause an environmental hazard at various sites and locations.
We have worked birds at power stations, landfill sites, hotels and town centres. The effect on the local bird pest population is often immediate, long term success can be ensured with regular flying of Hawks or Falcons.
We carefully select the species of Hawk or Falcon and fly at the particular avian pest present on the site. Our team of Harris Hawks Milo & Jet were the first to control pigeons at schools in Telford.
This method of utilising trained birds of prey is not only environmentally friendly but is appropriate in areas from well known tourist areas to waste depots.
We will assess your bird pest problem initially through a telephone call. This will lead rapidly to an onsite survey from which we will deliver a report detailing how we would tackle the problem an what results you might expect from our work.
Our bird pest control programs are long term and require constant flying of the bird of prey in the area. In the commencing phases, the birds to be used will be trained in situ using tracking telemetry equipment.
Once this phase is complete, the flying of the bird of prey in the area will become a regular activity. The type and number of birds flown will be dependant on the pest bird situation. Continual supervision of the pest bird problem will allow the program to be adjusted to suit. Once the birds of prey are known in an area, flying will not need to be so frequent.
It all starts with a phone call from you!
